This year, I have been a little quiet and haven't written much to share with all of you. Although many of you have expressed your love for reading my blogs and posts, I must admit that I simply haven't had the energy to share much.
I have been holding my regular weekly sessions of free Mindfulness & Meditation “Don’t get the hump day” on Wednesdays at 19:30, but due to it being August and many of you having jolly holidays (and me also needing a break) “Hump day” has been paused for the last 4 weeks.
Our lives are busy with work, families, household chores, socialising with friends and whatever else we cram in relentlessly trying to “live our best lives”…
Throughout most of this year, I have restricted my private mindfulness clients and courses due to the demands of relocating, decorating, and rebuilding my life following a challenging period. I have resumed my tech role at a relatively new company (though I have been there for over a year now) and have continued to offer mindfulness teachings on a part-time basis. Over the past six months, I have primarily focused on my Wednesday sessions and a few client courses. Recently I have been taking some time for me allowing me to recharge to have the right energy to support others.
I honestly had big ideas at the start of this year for group courses in my new town in Essex, Mindfulness retreats including Sound Healing by the river, but with unpredictable weather and quite honestly a lack of energy on my part – it just hasn’t materialised… Instead I have focused on exploring my new area with my pooch and my family and friends.
Today I am sharing about how its best to take it easy sometimes. It's good to slow down, relax, and reflect. Life moves fast, whether you're busy or not. We tend to stress ourselves out every day, and it makes me wonder why we do that. When did it all get so busy with seemingly so much to do?
Many of you have expressed missing my tips and thoughts. Here are some words from me to encourage you to move forward through the rest of this year without feeling guilt or pressure:
It is ok to take some time out (whatever that looks like for you)
You don’t have to spend your days cleaning the house and doing “jobs”
You only get one life. There is no need to conform to what we are told and shown on social media to be perfect, to look perfect, perfect home, perfect family, perfect social life
You do not need to multi-task to keep it all “together”
You do not need to feel guilty if you take a day on the sofa – if you need a weekend on the sofa because you are exhausted - then take it
The only person that has any right to “judge” how you live your life is you
Try not to make comparisons with others’ lives – you never know what is really happening for others or how they are feeling – especially on social media!
Life can be both wonderful and challenging. It can be a real mix of brilliant times, plus many happy and sad events. Don't hesitate to open up to those close to you when you're feeling down – they will understand. Finding balance is crucial in life. Remember, you are exactly where you should be, and if not, know that you have the power within you to make a change.
Remember that Humans are truly amazing - we've got this inner strength that kicks in when we need it most, and when we can't seem find it, there are plenty of ways to get help, lots of free resources online and organised groups which offer support.
For the rest of this year, why not join me on my regular Wednesday night sessions? I cover so many topics and also take requests if there is something specific that you want to learn more about or need help with.
Whats Next?
From mid-September onwards, I'll be taking in new clients for my courses and offering retreat sessions and Sound Healing in Essex, where I'm now based. You can join my courses and sessions online too, so you can take part from the comfort of your own home, whether you're in St Albans or anywhere else in the UK. Keep an eye on my socials to find out more.
Keep in Mind...
Practicing mindfulness and meditation can really help you build up your resilience. It gives you the tools to boost your mental well-being and helps you feel good both physically and mentally as you go through life. Try to embrace everything that makes you. And remember, it's so important to be kind to yourself every single day, even when things seem tough.
For more information you can reach me via my website or my social media. If it all seems a bit overwhelming, why not give the free Wednesday sessions a try? Take the first step today…
