Guided Meditation

Updated: May 10, 2021

What is guided meditation? Here I will talk about the benefits of practicing using guided meditation vs silence?

What is guided Meditation?

Guided meditation just means that as you meditate you listen to a voice or some music, rather than practicing in silence. There are many apps that you can use and many difference styles and voices that you can try until you find something that works for you.

What are the benefits of guided Meditation?

Many people find it hard to sit in silence, especially if they are new to Meditation. As children we often had stories read to us at bedtime. Hearing the voice of someone that cared about us, reading to us whilst we closed our eyes at night was a way for our caregivers to help us relax and get ready for sleep. These days we have audio books which some prefer to reading themselves, which is another great way to promote relaxation. Guided Meditation is just like this.

During guided meditation the senses in our brains slow down and the amount of incoming information is restricted whilst we concentrate on the meditation itself. This can lower blood pressure, reduce stress, declutter your mind, slow down your heart rate and help you to relax at a very deep level. Bringing focus to the words you are hearing can even take you on imaginative journeys, improve your visualisation skills which can improve how your brain works.

Why not give it a go today?
